Nasarawa Govt owes pensioners N24bn, says Union

The Nigeria Union of Pension, Nasarawa State Chapter, says the government owes pensioners in the state over twenty four billion naira.

Chairman of the Union in the state, Alhaji Umaru Adoga, announced this to newsmen at the end the state delegate conference in Lafia.

Alhaji Adoga stated that the over twenty four billion naira owned retired civil servants in the state is made up of backlog arrears of gratuities and other entitlement which have accumulated since the past administration.

According to the State Chairman of Pensioners, the Union is working tirelessly with organisations like the NLC to persuade the State Government to use the second tranche of the Paris club refund clear outstanding gratuities to retired workers in the state.
